Most 30/60/90 plans are theater. Handed over on day one, opened twice, forgotten by week three.
The one job
Make the new hire feel useful by week two. Everything else is nice-to-have.
The template
- 30 days: learn the room. Meet the people. Read the code / the roadmap / the last five customer calls. Ship one tiny thing.
- 60 days: ship a visible thing. Own the standup for a week. Give the manager honest onboarding feedback.
- 90 days: own a workstream end to end. Have a POV.
The rhythm
Weekly 1:1 with the manager. Day-45 feedback check-in. Nothing else calendared into oblivion.
Onboarding is a system, not a document. Ship it that way.
